Hi-Mat
Hi-Mat (2012) by Met Devoti is a sculpture that combines statuary and Bardiglio marble in a close dialogue with light and sound. The work, which recalls the form of a laptop, transforms an everyday object into an almost organic presence: the screen appears to stretch like living fabric, from which a luminous figure emerges, both fragile and intense. The keyboard and headphones, carved with precision, complete the installation as tools of connection and listening.
Through the hybridization of noble materials and sensory technologies, the artist reflects on the intangible nature of contemporary communication. Hi-Mat thus becomes a metaphor for the relationship between man and machine, between corporeality and the digital, where marble—traditionally a symbol of eternity—opens up to an ephemeral and vibrant dimension, inviting the viewer to perceive the immaterial flow of information as both a physical and poetic experience.
