n°9 Blow Up!
n°9 Blow Up! (2012) by Met Devoti is a striking environmental installation crafted from ordinary white marble, Bardiglio grey, and Nero Marquinia, animated by evocative lighting effects. Monumental and intimate at the same time, the sculpture reveals a fragmented face emerging from sculpted surfaces: ears, eyes, and hands appear as human traces that seem to compress and burst out of the stone. The inner light, filtering through fissures, transforms the marble into a vibrant skin capable of interacting with its surrounding space.
The title, Blow Up!, recalls the idea of enlargement, of focus and at the same time of explosion, alluding to the relationship between perception and reality. The work invites the viewer to engage with the material and with their own reflected image, in a continuous play of decomposition and recomposition. It is a sculpture that makes visible the tension between the eternal and the fleeting, between the solidity of marble and the immaterial lightness of illumination.
